BIO

Stephanie Dodes is a media artist from New York City. Her film and video work point to bizarre social codes, surreal absurdities and iconic relationships. She investigates beauty, design and power through a language of gestures and symbols. She received her MFA in New Genres at the San Francisco Art Institute. Dodes' work was selected for a juried exhibition at the University of Reno, Nevada for an international Digital Media Festival: Prospectives.09. Dodes' HD video project, Everything for Nothing, was screened as part of the Zero Film Festival. This project also inspired an exhibition at Ever Gold Gallery in SF, featuring artists who collaborated on her film. Her drawings have been exhibited at Motusfort Gallery in Tokyo, Japan and at the Heist Gallery in NYC. Stephanie Dodes graduated in 2001 with honors in Studio Art and Eastern Philosophy from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She is currently one of the curators for the BIG SCREEN PROJECT, an innovative public video art, film, and collective culture project that launches in October 2010 in NYC.
